LARA Wizard Help
Welcome to the online help page of LARA Wizard. The manual will assist you creating the required configuration drivers and instances that can be imported to your local extender's LARA.
Select Task Menu
Three types of templates are available:
Room with Automated Display Power Control
Meeting room user experience
- Display is powered up if BYOD device is connected to UCX, the last connected source is auto-selected and displayed.
- If BYOD is disconnected the display is powered down immediately or powered down after a configurable delay Until power-down, a Welcome Screen is generated with a shutdown counter.
Supported room device
- All MMX2, UCX standalone and TX-RX bundle
- LG Signage, Samsung Signage (QMF) and SONY Bravia Professional displays via Ethernet / Serial / CEC protocol
Steps of the Wizard
- Select a condition and an action for the room automation event.
- Select the Lightware Taurus (UCX/DCX) model and the Display model.
- Select communication type (Ethernet / Serial / CEC) between the Display and Taurus device. After it add the details of the communication (IP address / serial port number).
- Finish. Download the project file or the configuration file and upload it into LARA on the local Taurus model.
Customization of the UI
This section shows how to personalize the touchscreen UI templates.
Changing the Background
- Select to the LARA module editing button.
- Edit the user panel Module by clicking on the Edit icon. Go to the Content section and select the content folder.
- Upload the new background file to the content folder. Click on the Upload file icon. Browse the new file and upload it.
- Stop and restart the module.
- Refresh the UI to see the changing.

Changing the Welcome screen
- Select to the WelcomeScreen LARA module editing button.
- Edit the user panel Module by clicking on the Edit icon. Go to the Content section and delete the image.jpg file.
- Upload the new Welcome screen picture to the Content. Click on the Upload file icon. Browse the new file and upload it.
- Stop and restart the module.
- Refresh the UI to see the changing.
Build a Room with Touchpanel
Meeting room user experience
- Source selection is possible via the touch panel
- Source signal presence is detected and displayed
- Display can be powered up and down from the touch panel
- Configurable source autoselection (enable / disable)
- Configurable source button labels
- Configurable panel labels (Display / Company / Room names)
Supported room devices
- All MMX2, UCX standalone and TX-RX bundles
- LG Signage, Samsung Signage (QMF) and SONY Bravia Professional displays via Ethernet / Serial / CEC protocol
- HTML touch panels (e.g. Mimo, iPads, …)
Steps of the Wizard
- Add names to be displayed for the Room and the Company. It will be displayed in the header of the touch panel.
- Enable or disable Inputs and Outputs. The LARA module will create as much as they are enabled here. Add names to the inputs/outputs. On the output side Autoselect feature can be enabled that applies Last detect autoselection.
- Select the Lightware Taurus (UCX/DCX) model and the Display model.
- Select communication type (Ethernet / Serial / CEC) between the Display and Taurus device. After it add the details of the communication (IP address / serial port number).
- Finish. Download the project file or the configuration file and upload it into LARA on the local Taurus model.

Changing the Company Logo and the Background
- Select to the LARA module editing button.
- Edit the user panel Module by clicking on the Edit icon. Go to the Content section and select the logo folder.
- Upload the new company logo file to the logo folder. Click on the Upload file icon. Browse the new file and upload it. In case of the logo the recommended file extension is .svg but .png is also acceptable.
- Stop and restart the module.
- Refresh the UI to see the changing.

Button Color Customization
- Selected button color: navigate to the buttonSelectedBorderColor parameter and edit the color. Text (e.g. white) or RGB code (e.g. #f74236) is also accepted.
- Deselected button color: navigate to the buttonDeselectedBorderColor parameter and edit the color. Text (e.g. black) or RGB code (e.g. #f74236) is also accepted.
- Active button background color: navigate to the activeButtonBackgroundColor parameter and edit the color. Text (e.g. white) or RGB code (e.g. #f74236) is also accepted.
- Inactive button background color: navigate to the inactiveButtonBackgroundColor parameter and edit the color. Text (e.g. black) or RGB code (e.g. #f74236) is also accepted.

Build a Cisco Room
Meeting room user experience
- Source selection is possible via the Cisco Navigator touch panel
- Configurable source button labels
- Configurable panel label (Room name)
Supported room devices
- All MMX2, UCX standalone and TX-RX bundles
- 3 Cisco models: Cisco Room Kit EQ, Room Bar, Room Bar Pro
- Configurable Ethernet or Serial Port based Cisco device control
Steps of the Wizard
- Enable or disable Inputs. The LARA module will create as much as they are enabled here. Add names to the inputs.
- Select the Lightware Taurus (UCX/DCX) model and the Cisco codec model.
- Select communication type (Ethernet / Serial) between the Display and Taurus device. After it add the details of the communication (IP address / serial port number).
- Finish. Download the project file or the configuration file and upload it into LARA on the local Taurus model.
Customization of the Cisco Module
This section shows how to personalize the touchscreen UI templates via editing the module instance parameters.
Enabling the AutoShare Feature
AutoShare feature: when there is an active video signal then the codec automatically selects the connected source to present on the screen (no need to tap on Share Screen list).
- Select the editing of Cisco_Room_Device instance parameters button.
- Go to the Operation section -> Presentation mode menu.
- Select the AutoShare option.
- Save the Instance parameter and restart the module.
Build a Room with HP Poly Android videoconferencing unit
!!! This configuration tool is working with LARA version v1.3.1 or above only.
Meeting room user experience
- Access multiple sources, such as HDMI and USB-C, allowing for easy switching between them for improved flexibility in HP Poly room setups. It also supports display power and room light control from the HP Poly TC10 / TC8 panel.
- Connectivity: Lightware device Output 1 shall be connected to the codec HDMI input.
Supported room device
- All MMX2, UCX standalone and TX-RX bundle
- HP Poly models: HP Poly Studio X30, HP Poly Studio X32, HP Poly Studio X50, HP Poly Studio X52, HP Poly Studio X70, HP Poly Studio X72, HP Poly Studio G7500, HP Poly Studio G62
- LG Signage, Samsung Signage (QMF), SONY Bravia Professional displays and any generic sink devices via Ethernet / Serial / CEC protocol
Steps of the Wizard
- Set the UI scheme settings: the color scheme and the button shape.
- Set the Label settings.
- Source selection settings: select the Lightware Taurus (UCX/DCX) model and the Autoselect mode. The input port labels can be also added after the model selection.
- If the Room control settings is enabled, the Room control type options become active. Many submenu items will appear below this step depending on what Room control types are activated.
- In case of selecting the Display ON/OFF option: select the display model (LG / Samsung / Sony / Generic device). If Generic Device is selected, you can customize the communication platform and can add unique ON and OFF commands to control the device.
- In case of selecting the Projector ON/OFF option: select the projector model (only Generic device can be selected now). After the selection you can customize the communication platform and can add unique ON and OFF commands to control the device.
- In case of selecting the Lights ON/OFF option: select the connection (GPIO or Ethernet or Serial). If Ethernet or Serial is selected, you can customize the communication platform and can add unique ON and OFF commands to control the device. For GPIO, you can set the port and polarity.
- Select the Poly device model, add the IP address of the device and the username (default: admin) / password (default: the last 6 characters of the serial number) for the connection.
- Finish. Download the project file or the configuration file and upload it into LARA on the local Taurus model.
Uploading the Configuration File to LARA
Once the configuration file is downloaded, it can be uploaded and applied in LARA of the local Taurus model.
- Connect to the device via LDC or web LDC.
- Set a password in the device.
- Enable port #443 (factory default state is enabled).
- Enable LARA in the device.
- Open LARA in a browser.
- Drag & drop the configuration file or select the Upload configuration menu on the Status board and browse the downloaded .zip file.

Description of the UI Template
The section describes the meaning of the button color notations.
- Black button with red border: no signal on the port and not selected input/output.
- Black button with white border: no signal on the port but selected input/output.
- Red button without border: there is signal on the port but not selected input/output.
- Red button with white border: there is signal on the port and selected input/output.
